What is Agroecology Research?
Every farm is a living ecosystem where soil, plants, animals, insects, water, climate and people are all connected. Agroecology studies these connections to help us grow healthy food while protecting nature and improving people's lives.
How can I do Agroecology research?
As a young researcher, you will ask questions, observe nature, collect data, conduct experiments and discover solutions that make farming more sustainable. We have curated five broad themes for you.
1.Read through all five research themes and discover the exciting ideas each one offers.
2.Select the theme that interests you the most or sparks your curiosity.
3.Explore your chosen theme using Google, AI tools (such as ChatGPT), books, videos, or other reliable sources. Collect interesting facts, questions, and ideas.
4.Bring your notes, observations, and questions about your chosen theme. You don't need to know everything—just come ready to learn and share!
5.During Day 3, you'll join a breakout room with other participants who selected the same theme. Together, you'll discuss ideas, identify interesting research questions, and learn from your mentor.
6.By the end of Day 3 session, you'll be placed in a team of 3–4 young researchers. Over the next few months, your team and mentor will work together to design, conduct, and present an exciting agroecology research project.
Start by choosing only one of the five exciting research themes!
